If you have cash to splash and want a snowboarding holiday perfectly matched to your personality, look no further – we havr our own favourites, but this time we canvassed luxury travel guides, to match the different types of luxury snowboarder with their ideal resort…

You’re a freeriding foodie - Courchevel

Work up your appetite shredding the world’s biggest ski area, then come home to Courchevel and feast like never before. The resort has more Michelin-starred restaurants than any other ski resort on earth (2 restaurants have 3 Michelin stars, 3 have 2 Michelin stars, five have 1 Michelin star and many more come recommended in the Michelin Guide). And the Savoie area it sits in produces some of the finest cheeses and wines.

You like to boogie with billionaires – Verbier

Verbier

Verbier’s clientele work hard (whether for their billion-pound businesses, on the world-class backcountry or avoiding badgering paparazzi) but however hard they work, they party heaps harder. The nightlife is hedonistic as it gets, centred around the exclusive Farm Club and Farinet bar, with international DJ’s, beer by the gallon and magnum after magnum of vodka and champagne.

You’re a hell for leather heli-boarder – Zermatt

 Zermatt

When you’ve exhausted the Matterhorn-facing snowpark, the 360 kilometres of groomers and the countless powder runs of Zermatt’s Swiss-Italian ski area, take to the skies in a chopper and heliboard from the peak of Monte Rosa and many other 3,000m+ high mountains.

You ride with royals - Davos-Klosters

Davos

Spend long days on the Jakobshorn halfpipes and terrain park near Davos, freeride the Parsenn and finish up in Klosters where Prince Charles is a regular (there was a big event to mark his 40th anniversary with the resort this year, and the future king has a ski lift named after him!).

You board like Bond - Solden

Sölden

The most recent 007 film, Spectre, takes Bond to the mountains of Solden, where you can storm down glaciers, refuel on martinis in the glass cube that is the Ice Q restaurant (and was the movie’s mountaintop clinic) and pretend the futuristic Aqua Dome Spa is your villain’s lair.

You shop as hard as you shred – St Moritz

St Moritz

Via Serlas in St Moritz is a mile of dazzling designer stores that will see you suited and booted for the snow in serious style. Have a personal shopper pick out the perfect Prada ensemble for Piz Nair’s off-piste and get geared up in Gucci for riding the glacier.

You want piste-side pampering - Val Gardena

Val Gardena

Just being in the fresh air, Dolomite setting and gargantuan Superski region of Val Gardena does the world of good, and there are sensational spa hotels to provide the ultimate pre and post-ride pampering. Within its 3,500 square metre wellness centre, the ADLER hotel has saltwater pools, saunas, relaxation areas and every other spa offering you can imagine (packages with London flights cost from £1,369 next winter through SNO).

You’re a chalet connoisseur – Val d’Isere

 Val d’Isere

If being in one of the world’s best, most snow sure ski areas and having some of the world’s craziest après wasn’t enough, Val d’Isere also has some of the world’s most uniquely luxurious chalets to call home for the week. Have a chalet the size of a hotel all to yourself, with its private swimming pool, home cinema and staff to cater to your every whim.

Solden

Under the Langegg chairlift

Solden is one of Austria's best all round resorts, with some great intermediate terrain, and the craziest apres ski in the alps.

Courchevel

courchevel vista

Good all-round resort. Miles of groomed piste and natural terrain. An excellent intermediate/advanced resort but expensive. If you're a beginner, save your money and come here when you can fully utilise the whole resort.

Val d'Isere

Val d'Isere Terrain Park

Great mountain, expensive town. Overall, Val d'Isere has something for everyone. There's varying terrain for all abilities, some great off-piste and a good snow record but be ready to pay for it. They take card and cash, don't you worry.

Val Gardena

Val Gardena panorama

A breathtaking and bewildering journey to the most beautiful ski area in the World.

Zermatt

Zermatt Snowboarders

Zermatt is an extremely good resort with some excellent freering terrain set in an incredible location. Nightlife is decent but you need to bring yours and someone elses wallet with you.

Verbier

verbier powder

Extremely good resort with some of the best extreme terrain in Switzerland and the world for that matter.

St Moritz

St.Moritz old and new

A bit posh in town but fantastic snowboarding. Best to avoid Corviglia and head to nearby Corvatsch or Diavolezza where the Freeriding is awesome.

Davos

Davos Resort

The best overall resort in Switzerland offering something for everyone. Huge pisted area and excellent freeriding spread across 5 mountains, and not to mention the terrain park and 2 halpipes. Direct train services and good local services complete the package, but go mid-week to avoid the masses.
